hello, i just want to know how encouraging a 4th generation duo test is after 3 weeks, i got tested on the 23 day, it was negative. also could u give me some more info about 4the generation combo test, antibodies and antigen
Hi, I had a high risk exposure with a sex worker more than 3 months back. I got myself tested on the 90th day post exposure using the Chemiluminescence HIV test in a hospital in Mumbai, India. The report gives the following information about the test: -The test was performed on an Immunodiagnostic Vitros ECiQ Analyser and is used for the invitro qualitative detection of antibodies to HIV1 and HIV 2. -The vitros anti-HIV 1+2 assay uses 4 recombinant antigens such as HIV-1 env13, HIV-1 env10, HIV-1 p24 (core) and HIV-2 env AL. -My report reads Non reactive with a reading of 0.05. -The report says anything above 1.00 is considered reactive. The following are my questions: 1) Is the Chemiluminscence HIV test a reliable and an accurate one for HIV testing post 90 days of exposure. 2) I asked the hospital to perform an Elisa test but for some reason they did the Chemiluminscence HIV test despite having an Elisa test available with them. Is there any difference between the two tests and if so which of the one is an accurate one? 3) Do I need any further testing post this after 6 months, the reason being I was diagnosed with kidney stones during the 3 month window period, so was just wondering if that would have any effect on my HIV result. Also I read in many places on the internet that tests are not accurate till 6 months of exposure. 4) Which generation of the test is Chemiluminescence HIV test and what is its window period? Kindly let me know the answers to the above questions, I would be really grateful to you. Many thanks in advance.
I had unprotected vaginal sex with a Thai bargirl on Nov 25. So far I have had 2 tests. First was a combo at 25 days ( negative) and Western Blot on the 10 Jan ,just over 6 weeks. Also negative. Last week I felt my lymph node on left collarbone about the size of a small pea, It can move but not sore. Also had the burning pins feeling over various parts of the body at different times. Had the usual sore throat and stress related issues as well( churning gut, lack of appetite and lost weight, 7kgs from 85 kgs.I realise the need to retest after 3 months, but was wondering your thoughts on accuracy of aformentioned tests at these times.
the test i did id a anti HIV is a chemiluminescent micro particle immunoassay for the simultaneous qualitative detection of HIV p24 antigen and antibodies to human immunodeficiency virus type 1 and/or type 2 in human serum.. is this the duo test..... .
I am Rodrigo. I write you because I have inquiries about risks of transmission of HIV, and also other questions. By October 31th, 2011, I had receptive and protected anal sex ( we used condom which did not break) with a guy whom has HIV (I realized of that the next morning of the intercourse). Also, I did fellatio to him (without condom), but there were not ejaculation, and when we were kissing ( eating a chocolate), I accidentaly bit his lip so I guess there was some infected blood that came into my mouth. I did not have any cut in my oral mucosa, but I was receiving treatment for peptic ulcers because of Helicobacter Pylori infection. He was diagnosed by June 20th, 2011 ( when his viral load was 76,500 copies/ml). Since that time, he is receiving HAART with lamivudine-zidovudine-Nevirapine twice daily, but he told me that there are some days ( at maximun 3) that he does not take the pills.
When I realized of him diagnosis, I went to a doctor who gave me profilaxis about 18 hours post-exposure with lamivudine-zidovudine, at 24 hours I received Efavirenz, and at 36 hours I received Lopinavir-Ritonavir. My question is : What is my overall risk of acquiring HIV, taking in consideration all that I have described above?.
I got an EIA 4th Generation at 33 days post-exposure, and 63 days post exposure ( 33 days post-PEP), both came back negative. How accurate are my results?. Do I need more testing?. I am planning to get another test within 1 month, What is the likelihood that my results would change?.
Thank you very much in advance.
Here is the report for a lady sexually inactive for last 2 years taken today.
HIV 1 & 2 ANTIBODIES SCREENING TEST @
Final Result Provisionally Reactive for HIV 1
Method 1: HIV 1 / 2 & P 24 COMBO TEST
Index Value 624.80
Result: Provisionally Reactive
Index Value < 1.00 Non Reactive
>= 1.00 Provisionally Reactive
Method 2: HIV 1/2 BY IMMUNOCHROMATOGRAPHY Reactive
Method 3: HIV 1/2 BY FLOW THROUGH IMMUNOFILTRATION
Result HIV 1 Reactive
HIV 2 Non Reactive
As per NACO guidelines on HIV testing, Strategy III has been adopted
to report on HIV test samples. The patient sample is tested for HIV
antibodies using 3 different methods namely CMIA,Immunochromatography
& Flow through Immunofiltration.Patient sera found reactive on all 3
tests is considered as Provisionally Reactive.
PROVISIONALLY REACTIVE final result implies that antibodies to
HIV 1 have been detected in the sample. Supplemental assays like
Western Blot for HIV 1 and 2 are recommended.
The Question is
the report does not say that she is hiv positive or negative are there chances for false negative or positive?
there is no risk behaviour of any kind in the last 2 years and no symptoms apart from malaria and loose motions in 2 years
please reply soon
I heard DUO test or HIV RNA by PCR can be done after 6 weeks or so from the day started. I cant really wait for 3 months since I cannot stop worry about this. Are these tests available in Canada?
Well, after all, there is a certainty that nobody, except PEP users, needs a further test beyond 6 weeks.
Moreover, regional coordinators of AIDS are complaining that the new information has not been spread all over the country.
Well, the population of France is 65.000.000.
Now, you decide the window period.

I have hiv duo test at 28 days after my risky expouser and it came back nagetive. I heard this test is accurate more then 95% after 28 days. So my question is 1) if female to male transmission rate is 1 in 1000 (as per data available on internet) wat will be my chances for HIV positive after a negetive result @ 28 days. I know 12 weeks result is 100% but just need to relax. Now I'm on my 8th week of expouser so should I test now for 100% assurance or I will wait for 12 weeks to be completed.
