i had an unprotected anal sex with a gay ( me insertive partner) whose status unkown . i had a p24 antigen antibody test negative at 39 days and 67 days after exposure .Is my result conclusive or i need to retest again at 84 days .Please advice
I had a sexual encounter with an HIV+ man (which I found out later). Though I was the top and we had protected sex most of the time. I rubbed my penis on his anus and teased it, and inserted it into his anus for around 10 seconds a couple of times. I also fingered his anus and went in a bit deep with a couple of fingers. I had Dyshidrotic Eczema (very small stress bumps filled with transparent fluids but no open wounds that I can recall) on my fingers at the time.
I was put on PEP on the 60th hour post exposure and have been taking the medications everyday. I'm on day 14 at the moment and have 14 more to go.
On the 11th day post exposure, I started having a sore throat, a fever of 99.8 to 100 F, congested/runny nose, sneezes, coughs and headaches. Today, these subsided minus the fever which still fluctuates between 99.5 and 100 F.
I'm really worried about my HIV status. My question is: are there any sorts of HIV tests that I can take while being on PEP that can tell me about my status? Or do I need to finish all 28-days of PEP to get tested via 4th gen HIV test or RNA test?
Thank you for your help.
i had a protected vaginal sex with a sex worker but i licked her vagina without any protection or barrier and i tested for HIV with 4th generation cmia ag/ab test after 7 weeks and it came back negative. so is this test considered conclusive after 7 weeks of exposure because I'm to much worried
m4m interaction, i had deep kissing with lots of tongue exposure and he rimmed my ass for a while and place his cock on my anus (entry way) i was clenching my anal muscles so that no penetration could take place. i never bottomed and don't know how a cock feels when having anal intercourse. I am just worried that if this situation puts me at any risk ? will i know if he inserted his penis head in me ? Even though i was preventing him from doing so by not relaxing my anus. i am extremely worried. i travel a lot and the only test i can have is after 4 weeks and then i travel again. will this 4 weeks test which i will perform next month after this exposure due to time constraints, will it be a good indication of my status ? based on my exposures (it will be a 4th generation test). i know you guys says 6 weeks is conclusive but in my case ? Thank you for this great service.
i had sex with csw , used condom , but blood was on my figures while removing condom , i did regular tests , antibody test and they came negative , i did antigen antibody p24 test on 91 day it was negative , i did antibody 1 and 2 test 98 and 101 day it was non reactive, are my test conclusive
1. can negative only antibody test are conclusive
2. can negative at 101 day become positive later
3. should i get tested at 6 month mark
waiting for a reply from past 3 months
I had one unprotected vaginal sexual exposure with a girl. Next day after exposure, we went to a clinic to test. I knew my results won't be accurate but I just wanted to know her HIV status. Clinicians used Alere Determine HIV1/2 Ag/Ab test and she was negative. I also tested with Alere after 50 days and with 4th generation lab test after 60 days. Both were negative.
What I'm worried is, she said she had relationships with African people nearly 2-3 years ago. I know that some African people has HIV-2 type of virus, different than HIV-1. I wonder if she was HIV-2 positive, does this means a prolonged window period? Basically, does HIV-2 has different window period than HIV-1? I searched some articles but I couldn't find exact reports. Alere Determine doesn't have any HIV-2 spesific antigen detection so there needs to be established HIV-2 infection to detect antibodies. But I do not know what is the maximum window period to establish HIV-2 antibodies. I'd be so glad If you can help me.
Thanks for taking the time to look at this question.
I honestly have a fear of HIV, I'm honestly scared that I'll get it and its always on my mind. I'm gay and I recently broke up with my ex partner over 2 months ago. The last time we had sex was about 9 weeks ago, and yes we didn't wear protection. I found out that he had raw sex with someone else while we were together in the last two weeks that we were together. Fortunately we know that person he had sex with and they both say they are negative and my ex is now on prep.
But I am still paranoid as I have chronic fatigue and most of the symptoms are similar to HIV and its playing on my mind and affecting me every day.
I had a little over a month check and it was negative, I just had a 9 week test and this was also negative. What are the chances say one of them did have HIV that my 9 week negative result could still come up positive at the 12 week mark? I can't keep going on like this :(
Hello, Thanks for this awesome service.
I have a quick question regarding my exposure yesterday (the day before this question is being sent).
I met with a guy who said he is married and disease free. we decided to hang out at my place, we had long session of deep kissing and mild lip biting and he ended with giving me a blow job. but today i found out from him that he didn't get tested over a year. So this bothers me a lot now. i didn't notice any bleeding or sores. i didn't had any sores that i remember. but i always thought kissing was safe sex activity until i see some discrepancies now. this case is m4m
please advice if i need to get tested, and when should i get tested. i was going to get tested after 28 days with a blood draw. do you think it will be accurate by that time. thx
46 days after the risk I did a test that said the following:
Anti hiv 1 + 2 and negative p24 antigen
This test is based on the simultaneous determination of IgG anti-HIV1 and anti-HIV2 and antigenaemia p24, which allows to reduce the delay between contamination and virus detection.
According to what you have mentioned before, the test that combines the search for antibodies and antigens at the same time is of 4 generation and the window period is 6 weeks in 99% according to many experts. The question I have is that in my test it says: Anti HIV 1 + 2 AND ANTIGEN P24 NEGATIVE
Method: Electro-Chemiluminescence and after says: This test is based on the simultaneous determination of IgG anti-HIV1 and anti-HIV2 and antigenaemia p24, which allows to reduce the delay between contamination and virus detection. I have read that those of 4 generation usually look for igG and igM and p24 antigen. Could it be that my test only looks for IgG and p24 antigen or have IgM ignored or is it normal? Is it still 4 generation to look for antibodies and antigens? Can I stay calm for being 4? Thank you very much for your help andgreetings from barcelona, you do a magnificent job
