I recently had sex with a man I met at a bar. We are both men so we had anal sex. I insisted on wearing a condom, but we used saliva as a lubricant. Should I be concerned about being infected with STI or HIV?
Hello there, I had a protected sex with two women 3 times ( I used 3 condoms two with one women and one with the other) in the same day in exchange of money I wore condom all the time I even checked the used condoms if there were no leak ( and there weren`t any thanks to god ) Now I am affraid if I got HIV, I did two test one after 15 days and the other after 18 the test was p24 Antigen; HIV Antigen/Antibody Combination on both tests I got Nonreactive, dose that mean I don`t have HIV beacuse I`ve read that Antigen is detectable after 10 to 16 day on average.
the labe says that after 21 days this type of test reusl is conclusive. the second test I did becuase I had a sore throat and I thought that was a symtoms.
when is the actual windo period of this test?
Hi dear Sir/Mamm,
Please help me solve the mysterious symptoms I've been going through for almost a month. I first started to feel gum hurting and a dry mouth on the 27th of May, the next day I started to have thrush on my tongue. I was so scared that this could be an indication of HIV infection. Since I've given oral sex to the same guy two and a half years, and also nine months ago. I went to my routine physical exam on the 28th, did a complete check on most body parts, CTs, x-rays and Blood tests all came out normal.
I went to a clinic to seek help for the thrush on May 31. The doctor examined my mouth and gave me a throat culture test which was NEGATIVE. He then expressed concerns on my immune system, suggesting me to take an HIV + STDs test, which I did. He also asked about my white blood cell levels, which I know is normal from the physical exam I took a few days before.
The next few days waiting for the results were like hell to me. My stomach started to make sounds the night I went back from the clinic, and I had diarrhea for a day after that. Also felt fatigue sometimes and my dry mouth and oral thrush keeps getting worse, the anti-fungal medicine my doctor prescribed didn't help at all.
On June 3rd, I finally got my test results, everything came back NEGATIVE. But I didn't feel relieved because I'm still having the oral thrush, and it seemed have spread to my throat since I feel a bit pain when swallowing food.
I went to the clinic again on June 5th in search for the cause of my persisting thrush, and why I keep developing symptoms that are very close to hiv infection. The doctor reassured me that my previous test results are accurate since it was a 4th GEN AT/AG test. But I was still concerned since they didn't do the test in house; they drew my blood and sent the samples to a lab for the test. I worried that the results could've been wrong due to lab errors or mistakes made through this process. The doctor said I can get a rapid finger prick test on-site to give myself a peace of mind. I did, and the result is also NEGATIVE. The doctor then concluded that the thrush might be a result of antibiotics I took for a week after my wisdom teeth removal on May 14th.
Now more than a week after that, my thrush started to fade, but there still is quite a bit of thrush at the end of my tongue. I started to find rashes on my chest, my back and on my arms. Yesterday I woke up with a sore throat and a weird brownish red mark on my right arm. I experienced some mild fever last night and today, and the sore throat continues to bother me. My stomach still makes noises, I tend to get marks on my skin easily and sometimes my muscles sours for no reason.
I know I probably seem really paranoid, but is there a chance that I was at the late stage of an infection so the test couldn't find any antibodies? (I asked this since I read thrush is a symptom mostly occurring on late-stage patients.)
Or could it be some kind of new string of virus that the tests couldn't detect? And how likely could the clinic have messed up my test results?
Is it necessary for me to get tested again using methods that look for the virus directly? Like RNA or viral load tests? Is it necessary to get a CD4/CD8 count too to rule out any other immune system diseases?
I'd be really grateful if you could answer my concerns since they've been bothering me so much!!
I had sex with a RLD Amsterdam prostitute 3 months ago. I used a condom, for both oral and vaginal sex. I had no worries since I protected myself and I'm aware of the precautions the Netherlands workers use (condoms for everything including oral).
3 weeks ago however, I had a small cut injury (no bigger than 10cm and I had no bleeding), I quickly tried to disinfect it but left it wet with the disinfectant liquid right after I received the cut (day and night for two days), I didn't try to cover the wound or anything (I'm starting to believe that leaving the wound wet and moist while still doing normal day activities like public transportation is what got me infected). The cut was from a barrel that had a metal safety belt thingy ( I cut myself with the metal), however the contents of the barrel were toxic chemical residues from a sink drain in a laboratory. 3 days after the cut it got infected very bad with a bacteria, it extended to at least 40 cm more from the origin of the cut, I began to swell and had blisters filled with pus all around it, the first doctor diagnosed that I should take Ciprofloxacin, the second doctor said this was a mistake and I had to take Dicloxacillin instead, fast forward 3 weeks later and the wound has almost completely healed with new skin.
Around the same time of my cut, I noticed two pearly bumps around my pubic hair, thinking it was pimples I squeezed them and white liquid came out with a little blood, afterwards I noticed two more bigger sized bumps, the same doctor that misdiagnosed me gave me a fungus cream medicine for it, saying it was probably fungus and that it should go away quickly without even looking at the bumps, he just asked me what they looked like and made a prescription based on that.
Fast forward 2 weeks, after noticing no improvement with this cream and actually getting worse and I was diagnosed with Mollscum contagious by a dermatologist, he told me this was an awful prescription that my previous doctor game me, and that it made a simple problem extend much bigger, since the virus has spread around my pubic hair area with more bumps, he made me realize it was because I kept rubbing the molluscum pimples around other areas of my body). I had cryotheraphy since then and have controlled the infection somewhat (I'm still not entirely molluscum free).
Here's where I began to worry, both of these disseases suggest after reading on the internet, that while it may happen on normal people, it may happen more often with people who have a weakened immune system by HIV. So of course, I panicked, feeded my brain with negative thoughts and haven't been able to shake off this whole thing by constantly reading on the internet day after day to the point of depression.
I did the most logical thing, which was to get a test. I tested at around 84 days after that sex encounter exposure and the test result came back negative, I've read online that this should be considered a conclusive result since around 99% of people would've presented enough antibodies to be picked up by then.
I wasn't convinced enough so I did a second test at 15 weeks (in a different clinic as well) and came back negative again.
Should I leave this matter to rest now? I had no worries about my sex encounter until these two things happened, it just worries me that these things happened around the same timeframe and worsened so fast. Should I chalk it up to bad first doctor medications?
How safe am I that this is a conclusive result at 15 weeks?
Thank you for reading.
I've had protected sex on 1st May 2016.
1.On the 21th day from exposure, i took the following tests-Hiv antibody/antigen,vdrl,Hepatitis B and C test.All negative.
2.On the 33rd day from exposure ,I've taken HIV 1proviral dna test and 4th generation HIV antibody and P24 antigen test. All negative.Could you please say if the results are conclusive.
I had protected sex with at a full service masseuse. It was very dumb of me and i have been very anxious that i contracted HIV from the woman, whos status i am unsure of, most likely HIV positive, but it has been 11 days since my encounter with her, and all i have experienced is an upset stomach on and off along with some minor diarrhea. No other symptoms like the flu have entailed but i want to know if in my case, i should be worried if i got HIV. Also if my upset stomach could be a result of my anxiety.
I had protected anal sex (bottom) and unprotected oral sex, I tested 27 days after and the results came back negative. Shld I still be worried or is it almost 100% safe that I am not HIV+?
Hello. I am a 26 year old Canadian male, currently residing in a hotel room in Cambodia. I am steeped in guilt and anxiety following two sexual encounters I had last night. I had far too much alcohol to drink and was walking down the street in a lively area of town when I bumped into a transgendered person, a ladyboy they call them.. Having little to no inhibition, within minutes I was receiving oral sex in an area of the street out of sight. This lasted for only about 15 seconds before I realized what I was doing and definitively put at end to the act. Maybe an hour later I ended up having protected sex with a female sex worker. Although I know the risk of HIV transmission through oral sex is low, and despite the fact that the sex was protected via condom with the second of the two encounters, I am now consumed with feelings of guilt and self disgust having this being the first time I have paid for sex, as well as fear that this may be one encounter I won't walk away fully unscathed from... I am now very paranoid that I may have contracted HIV, being that this is a low income country, and the blowjob was from a ladyboy, and the sex was with a sex worker... I know there is no absolute way to be sure I have contracted anything until a couple months have passed and I can have accurate HIV/STI/STD testing, but is there anything, anything at all you can say to help me through this while at the same time not sugar coating anything? I have done ample research on HIV transmission being a naturally neurotic, paranoid person and realize the risks are low, yet HIV has no prejudice, and I still fear I may have put myself at great risk.. I will paraphrase my predicament in the spirit of transparency once more - I received oral sex from a transgendered person (not a sex worker) for approximately 15 seconds, and then I had PROTECTED sex (condom) with a female sex worker. No other acts were committed, I was tempted to perform oral on her but I mainly just kissed and lightly licked around the vagina and anus but I wouldn't consider what I did to even be able to be considered cunnilingus... Can you help me gain a little peace of mind on the matter? I'm freakin' out here and pretty sure I have tarnished the remainder of my trip now with this newly instilled paranoia. Thank you so much for your time.
I am really paranoid and i am really stressed out if there is anything you guys could advice me to do.This incident happned 15 days back i encountered a Oral sex with a condom on and then for 2 minutes penetrated. He then used a tissue to clean it and started giving me oral sex again the then took it off and gave me oral sex i am really worried if she gave me HIV i have got tested for Hepes 1 and 2 both came negetive but my doctor asked me too wait for 3 months i cannot eat or sleep and im really worried could you please help me.
Hey, so I just found out my boyfriend of almost 2 months had been cheating and having multiple partners during our relationship, as well as most likely never been tested throughout his life.
About a week and a half after we began becoming sexual (that is, me giving him oral with ejaculate in my mouth, and dry humping- penis on vulva contact but no penetration.) I developed a really bad cold that I just couldn't shake. I had a 102 fever, sore throat, and stuffy nose for about a week. I felt fine after, but a month later I still can't shake a stuffy nose and possibly swollen lymph nodes and cant figure out if it's allergies or not .
Bottom line is, I am very worried that I may have contacted HIV through our activities and these are symptoms of that. Please Advise.
