HIV Testing

Hello,
I need to undergo HIV testing as I believe recently I have exposed myself to possible HIV transmission risk.May I know:-
1) Is the testing free of charge at any of the AIDS Vancouver testing sites?2) Is the testing discreet or will any other party be notified in the event of a positive result?
Please advise.Thank you.

Risk Level ?

I had a protected encounter in the last week of January. I am feeling extremely nervous if I could have been exposed since hands were also involved. Is it possible to get infected through unbroken skin ?
I do want to get tested to be at peace in my mind. Is the minimum time post encounter 3 months ? Or is there any way to get tested prior to that too ?
What are the places which administer an anonymous test ?

Clarification...

HIV and syphilis rapid tests

I'm planning on getting tested for HIV and syphilis. I believe there are rapid HIV tests offered in most testing sites in Vancouver. However, I was wondering if there are testing sites that offer syphilis rapid test as well. I am planning on going to the Bute Street clinic for the tests. Do they offer both rapid HIV test and rapid syphilis test? If not, is there any other anonymous testing sites in Vancouver offer both rapid tests? Thanks a lot.

4th generation/duo test available in Toronto

I don't mean to repeat this same question again as I know you had replied to someone and also provided with a number to get accurate information. 1-800-668-2437 The hotline do tell me that the 4th generation test is available in labs, and asked me to get further information from clinics. ( They're refering to the Hassel Free Clinic.) However, the clinic hardly answered my question about the 4 generation test, they even told me rapid testing they are always doing is the 4 generation. Frome my knowledg it's not likely what they said is right. I have also called other clinics that do not even know what the meaning of 4th generation lab test. I respect their professional knowledge, can you make a call to the clinic so as to find out if any 4 generation testing truly available in Toronto, please? The number is 416-922-0566. Sorry for bothering. Thank you so much!!

Rapid Tests

Hi,
I recently got a rapid test done. After drawing blood from my finger and conducting the test, the nurse threw out the remainders of the test into the sharps container with her bare hands. She then handed me a bandaid. Would it be possible for her to transfer somebody else's blood from the sharps container onto the bandaid and then into my bloodstream through the bandaid (the bandaid was used to cover the prick she drew the blood from). This was done in a setting where people get tested within fifteen minutes of each other... Could fresh blood survive on the sharps container and then get transferred onto me in the way I described. Thank you so much!

finger prick test

this may sound stupid, but i have been so paranoid about hiv. I recently took a hiv rapid test, it was a finger ***** blood rapid test. I dont know what kind of needles are used in ontario. Can those automatic i guess single used be accidentally used again? Can I get infected this way? . Please help me I went there to get peace of mind now i am even more worried are there any risks? can the applicator be infected?what kind of needles that are used??is there a possible by mistake a nurse used an old needle (it was in blue or green color). if an old one was used what are the chances of getting hiv??Everything was prepared when i got there i cant go again sleeples nights for another 3 months i cant take this fear ..also my test was negative and i was told i had a v v v low risk, it was un protected oral...

rapid testing

hi, i just tested at a halton region health clinic, it was a rapid hiv test, finger prick test…it was negative… now i m worried that the nurse might had used an old needle to drew my blood, is it possible. the thing she used was in blue colour, she put it on the finger n then pressed it…. are those needles reusable? how soon the virus dies? if the virus dies soon after outside the body then y is it dangerous for shared needles? isn't it the same thing?? thanks

PCR-RT

Hello. Real Time PCR after 12 and 46 days (oral sex - felattio and cunnilingus both unprotectd) demands other tests? I also did tests "rapidcheck" and "biomanguinhos" (in Brazil, Fiocruz foundation) with 20/32/46/60 days. In Brazil, depto.public health said the window period is 60 days because of the generation of those tests (biomanguinhos, rapidcheck). Could you, please, give me some help?
