I recently got a rapid test done. After drawing blood from my finger and conducting the test, the nurse threw out the remainders of the test into the sharps container with her bare hands. She then handed me a bandaid. Would it be possible for her to transfer somebody else's blood from the sharps container onto the bandaid and then into my bloodstream through the bandaid (the bandaid was used to cover the prick she drew the blood from). This was done in a setting where people get tested within fifteen minutes of each other... Could fresh blood survive on the sharps container and then get transferred onto me in the way I described. Thank you so much!

hi, i just tested at a halton region health clinic, it was a rapid hiv test, finger prick test…it was negative… now i m worried that the nurse might had used an old needle to drew my blood, is it possible. the thing she used was in blue colour, she put it on the finger n then pressed it…. are those needles reusable? how soon the virus dies? if the virus dies soon after outside the body then y is it dangerous for shared needles? isn't it the same thing?? thanks
Hello. Real Time PCR after 12 and 46 days (oral sex - felattio and cunnilingus both unprotectd) demands other tests? I also did tests "rapidcheck" and "biomanguinhos" (in Brazil, Fiocruz foundation) with 20/32/46/60 days. In Brazil, depto.public health said the window period is 60 days because of the generation of those tests (biomanguinhos, rapidcheck). Could you, please, give me some help?

first, i'd like to thank you for helping people including me at week 6, i had HIV Rapid test and other STIs and at week 12 i had another HIV Rapid Test. All my results came back negative.
My problem now is i have sex phobia. the time that i waited (the 12 weeks) makes me scared of sex. plus, it affects my daily life ( scared of HCV). i wear gloves almost all the time, especially in public places. HCV can live outside the host up to 4 days.
now, i do not what should i do??? should i talk to psychologist?
i never felt like this before deciding to know my status and reading about diseases.
please i need your advice.

Thank you so much for your work! I would just like to ask one question. I recently got a rapid HIV test done. At the end, the nurse threw away the contents of the test (lancet, unit membrane, her rubber gloves) into the sharps container with her bare hands. She then gave me a bandaid for the spot on my finger where she drew the blood. I am worried about the fact that the sharps container contained the parts of other people's tests (this was a point-of-care setting where people came in to get their tests within fifteen minute time slots) that might have had HIV-positive blood on them. Is it possible for that blood to somehow get into my bloodstream from the bandaid (that the nurse touched) through the open prick from the lancet? Am I worrying needlessly?
Thank you very much!
