Hi there, so i received a call yesterday telling me that i have 'Been exposed to HIV and Chlamydia' from a clinic in Vancouver. I immediately arranged to go and get tested. When there, they did full spectrum tests including, i assume an RNA test (10-12 days window was given for that test) and a pinprick test. I also took medication for the Chlamydia
Now, because i limit my sexual contact to purely oral sex out of a relationship, I assumed my risk was low to very low to contract HIV from oral alone? Could you clarify the level of risk on that front for me given that
A. it's obvious the person involved has been recently diagnosed, and thereby likely to have a higher viral load (?)
B. they also tested positive for chlamydia, which i understand increases your likelihood to catch another STD, but does it also increase your infectiveness?
I have OCD so this situation creates a great deal of anxiety in me. Im trying my best to manage it and be calm. Just to clarify, my pinprick result from yesterday was negative, i have had no unprotected anal sex or even protected anal sex since my last tests which were window-period proof, and i have ONLY performed oral on maybe 3-4 guys, and received oral from a few more
There is one evening in the club i blacked out for 20 minutes and was thrown out for being too drunk - something that I actually stopped drinking over, but i am extremely doubtful that would have lead to sex inside a club, and i would have known about it, as there would have been someone else ejected with me for such an act.
I went to get a haircut and the barber used an "old school" like straight razor for the back of my neck and I did not see him change the blade (because I don't think you can on these types of razors) and there was a container with blue disinfectant which he did NOT use. He put water on the back of my neck and used the razor as it is. I saw him use it on the guy before me. I am concerned now because as usual with razor blades the skin is irritated afterwards and I put some sanitiser on the affected area a few hours later and it stung. I am scarred of contracting hepatitis or worse HIV from this. I know that the virus dies exposed to air but it takes some time as far as I can tell. I am afraid now...
I was in a bed with a girl. She was having periods. We did not have sex. Both of us had never had sex before and have no known history of prior STDs. She definitely does not have HIV. Its just that she rubbed my penis on her vagina for a few seconds without a condom. There was no penetration and no intercourse. I wanted to know it if puts me at risk of any STDs and which STDs do i need to get tested before
Hi Aids Vancouver Helpline! Congratulations on easing pleople's fear! You guys are truly professionals!
I wanted to contact you because I want to move forward, but everytime I intend to do so I fail.
I had a very low risky encounter 7 and a half months ago. I only tested for HIV as it was my only concern at the moment. No one seems to know whether some other Stds, such as syphilis or hept.B become indetectable after a peiod of time. I am about to get tested for all STDs (including HIV again) and I am really confused, I'd mean a lot to me if you could clarify it for me!
Hello and thanks in advance for receiving / reading this e-mail message.
My Name is ******
For the first time in my life I had sex at the 15th of April 2016 with a gay man . Unfortunately we had unprotected sex.
Since the 22nd of May I have experienced some concerning signs like high fever (which is stable now at 37.1-37.3 C ) feeling tired and sweating while sleeping and feeling a small abdominal pain . I also lost a bit of weight these days . But the worst thing of all is that I am afraid I am HIV positive. I didn't; have the chance to go for an examination though , as I am very scared to death and I also think that since I am an anxious person I may be enforcing the symptoms myself at a point.
2 days before I contacted the guy I had sex (he was the only sexual partner I had) and mentioned my experience to him .
HE was scared so went under a " FAST HIV TEST" the result was negative . As far as I knew his last sex experience was 4 days before me that's making a 43 days period since the 12th of April (12th April-24th May ) . He took the Test at the 25th of May .
Is the Fast HIV Test to be trusted? Shall I feel better now that I know he is not positive?
I also had some tests but general ones like CMV and EPSTEIN-BARR both were IgG positive and IgM negative. My Hematologist told me not to be worried since this seems to be an old infection. Shall I mention that weeks before I had experienced a half day vominting which was a bad experience but ended up pretty fine .
Thanks for your time
with best regards,
****** from Greece
Hello and thank you for answering my question. A month ago I had unprotected vaginal sex with a prostitute and to make matters worse i also had some minor inflammation and soreness on my penis. Prior to this incident occurring i had an STD test done on me and they all came back negative. However I still had this inflammation or urethritis in my penis head when i engaged in unprotected sex with the prostitute. I have read online that the risk of Hiv transmission increases three times in the presence of STD's and such, so based on this fact, if the average risk of transmission for males is said to be .04%, does this mean that with the presence of urethritis, my risk could be as high as .12%?
I was treated for an STD (syphilis) yrs ago. I've been told I could never give blood and that I will always have the std in me, but I cant infect anyone. Could infect myself or get sick if I taste my own precum?
Hi, I received 2 second unprotected fellatio, 2 second condoms protected fellatio, and then, I had about 12 second condoms protected anal sex with a female sex worker from Mongolia (people in Mongolia has high rate of HCV) at 3.5 months ago. After 3 months of that event I gave a test for HIV 1&2 (4th generation ELISA), antibody Hep C test, and other STIs. The results came negative. Could you please kindly let me know if I still should retest for HCV and HIV after 6 months of exposure. I read in CDC guidelines that 97% of people develop Hep C antibody after 6 months, is this true and valid? Some others say an antibody test after 15-16 weeks is conclusive for Hep C?
What test I can give now to 100% make sure about Hep C?
Thank you very much
I am from india, I had a brief exposure with a prostitute in honkgong exactly before 99 days. I used condom, as this is the first time I was having vaginal sex, but I don't was there any break or slippage.
I was licking her vagina for 10 seconds and kissing her continuously in nipples, mouth.
I started to get lot of symptoms from 20 th day onwards
Rashes, mild fever, 3 small lymph nodes in neck, weight loss of about 5 kg, sometimes high fever about 100 f.
I started my tests as follows,
29the day rapid test - negative
33rd day rapid test - negative
33rd day REAL TIME pcr - viral load - hiv 1 - Target not detected
43rd day - elisa - non reactive
49th day - HIV DUO CMIA - non reactive
56th day - elisa - negative
63rd day - elisa - negative
70th day - elisa - negative
77th day - HIV DUO CMIA - non reactive
81st day HIV 1 RNA DETECTION using cobas taqman - not detectable
81st day HIV 2 RT PCR - NOT DETECTED
90th day - HIV DUO CMIA - non reactive
90th day - ELISA - negative
Other than these tests, I took STD tests on 88th day - for chlamydia, syphilis, HSV 1 and 2, HbsAg, CMV, RPR/VDRL, TPHL, TOXOPLASMA, rubella. Everything is negative other than rubella IgG with value of 136.
1. Is my tests are conclusive, should I need to take any tests in 6 months,
2.from 2 week onwards I am getting rashes on/off. is it related to HIV
3. What could be the cause of lymph nodes near ear and neck, this are not noticeable and not paint, May be around 1 cm.
4.I was using Alprazolam 0.25 MG for anxiety, will this have any effects on HIV tests.
5.is my other STD tests are conclusive?
I know doing a fellatio to an hiv+ person is a neglible risk of contract hiv if there isn't an cum ejaculation, but I want to ask you if the hiv+ have another std, like chlamydia or gonorrhea or syphilis, and this person has infectious fluid for this std, like urethral discharge or fluid of a chancre, if this fluids increases significatly the risk of hiv transmission. This fluids have hiv in important concentration, or hiv is only in important concentrations in cum and blood in men?
Thanks, and my apologizes for my bad english.
