Thank you for your services.I have been working as a doctor in Germany for two months. During my pre-hospital screening test, my blood test was positive for HIV. Nine years ago, I had a similar incident in India where a screening test was positive. My doctor advised me to do a Western blot, P24 antigen and DNA PCR test, all of which were negative. I did not have any exposure. One year later, I got married and was tested every two years and was always negative. I gave birth to a healthy boy two years ago. The regular maternity checks for HIV were also negative. I am only sexually active with my husband. Is there a chance that this current test in Germany could be a false positive? How accurate are these tests in Germany for occupational medicine examination. What do I have to do now? Why would such an incident happen to me twice? I would really appreciate a feedback.
Dear Team- Thank you for taking the time to answer this.
I had protected vaginal sex, the condom broke right in the beginning and he pulled out immediately. I was tested at 6 weeks, 3 months and 4 months with 4th generation HIV test all coming back negative. My concern is I had two vaginal yeast infections about 7 weeks after and then again about 13 weeks after. I also noticed about 15 weeks after my right lymph node on my neck is swollen.
1- Are my tests conclusive or do I need to retest at 6 months
2- Does the quantity of HIV transmitted affect the window period. Meaning if only a small amount of HIV was transmitted would it take longer for my body to respond to it thus lengthening the window period?
First, thank you so much for your replies, you website helps a lot!
My questions: I have read the reasons that are supposed to delay HIV testing (4th generation). But for example different antiviral meds are also used against simple flu, cold, etc. (interferon, etc.). They are also used to treat HVC. Of course we usually don't treat flu or cold so seriously and with so many meds as HVC. But in a case a person has HIV combo testing after 6 weeks of exposure (as many doctors say, they are conclusive) and don't get HVC treatment, cancer treatment, doesn't take PEPs, but took some drugs against flu or herpes for example, can his window period be prolonged?
I had unprotected sex. a one time thing. i was given PEP within 72 hours. I took a determine HIV antibody test 1 month after completing PEP and it was non-reactive. I did another determine HIV antibody test 7 weeks after completing pep (11 weeks after exposure) and it was still negative.
Can the negative results change after 12 months post PEP since i have read that PEP delays seroconversion?
I am a gay man, and I am just concerning about something. I was just wondering if H.I.V has any link with Yeast infection in men.
I am gonna tell you a brief description what's going on.
Recently I have experienced some burning sensation on my urethra and also when I urinate. I went to my primary Dr. and did some lab tests and get some urine culture, it came positive for Yeast Infection. The doctor put me on this medication for it. I took the first dose this week and taking the last one on Sunday.
I'd also like to mention I am a "pre diabetic".
I also got tested for H.I.V, it came back negative. It has been two months since I had sex with someone, we just had mutual masturbation, showering together, kissing and some rubbing and came. The guy I had sex with is on Prep.
Just outta curiosity, I have Googled it, and all I can see and the first thing that pops up is a link between H.I.V and Yeast infection in men. At this point I am more worried and anxious than never.
I was just wondering if you are able to clarify my concerns.
What's the window frame that 4th Generation test? And how accurate is this Test?
I am experiencing some symptoms such as burning sensation in my legs, weight loss, stomach issues, mild dhiarreia, lose of appetite and burning tong and lips. I have not had any fever.
Since I was tested positive for Yeast infection, I’ve been really anxious and worried lately. Can these symptoms be all related to the anxiety and stress?
These are the tests I’ve done so far:
-At “57” days - ROUTINE (CENTAUR) 4TH GENERATION HIV ANTIBODY/ANTIGEN TEST “(Negative)”
-At “72” days - RAPID (ALERE) 4TH GENERATION HIV ANTIBODY/ANTIGEN TEST“(Negative)”
Is there any link between H.I.V and Yeast Infection specially in me? Please help!
I have all these stuck on my mind, and I can't get over of it. The more I think, more anxious and worried I get. This past week has been so overwhelming.
Hi, Took PEP for 28 days. Source was negative at 29th day (DUO test and Proviral DNA Test). I am negative as of 68 days (DUO Test). I was tested negative on 7, 10, 21 and 45 th day using Proviral DNA and 51 days using PCR RNA test. Am i risk free now?
I had a encounter of mutual masturbation, where I fingered the lady and then masturbated self with Vaginal Fluid on my fingers and that fluid may have came in contact with my Penis.
I had SERUM HIV(I & II)AG/AB( Combo) Test with Method : Chemiluminescent Immunoassay on day 15th and Day 29th and both the results are as under:
15th Day: 0.24 S/Co : Non Reactive
29th Day: 0.11 S/Co : Non Reactive
1. Can I Conclude that I am not infected on the basis of the Test results?
2. Is the above mentioned test 4th generation?
3. If I need to take the same test for a conclusive result, when should I take it again?
Thanks in advance for your knowledge sharing and support.
after expojer 93 days antigen and antibody test negative 103 daysafter screening test negative pls tell me i am safe yes/no or other test
I know it’s stupid but due to lack of knowledge I started taking PEP 3 WEEKS(not days) post exposure and once I considered what I’ve done, I made my second mistake, I continued it for more than 2 MONTHS!
Now 7 months pasts from the day 0 and I’m totally frustrated..
I’ve tested regularly through this time, monthly NAAT and DUO tests.
I guess I can not consider my HIV status because the PEP has suppressed the viral load and the immune system had enough time to develope few amount of antibodies as an answer to low viral load. And due to presence of antibody the virus never had a chance to rebound. Probably that’s why both RNA and antibody levels are below the detection line.
