Hi, I had anal sex with the same guy for three times (I was top) differently in March 16th,18th and April 16th. The first one was unprotected, and the other two were with condom. At March 19th, around 62 hours since the first exposure I was placed on pep with genvoya.
I finished 30 days pep course, and tested negative one day after pep with 4th generation ag/ab test. But lots of symptoms came to me about one or two weeks after the pep like pain throat, headache, rash, night sweating, diarrhea, myalgia, arthralgia etc.. put me in super stressed situation. Did another 4th generation test at May 12th negative, at May 28th, a local doc recommended me to do 4th generation tests along with hiv DNA (copies/1E6 cells, lower limit 20) and RNA (20 IU/mL) testss because he said results can be conclusive results so I don't have to wait in anxiety any longer, the ag/ab test was negative, the other two both results came back with results not detected.
I thought I could be relieved then. But I didn't, some of the symptoms keeps bothering me even till today, makes my life a mess, can't live and work normally. I went to different docs asking for help and the did give me, but not working. New health issues keep appearing, one after another, I barely got sick before this whole thing. My latest tests were June 21st and July 19th. Both 4th generation tests and both negative.
Also one thing I want to mention is the index value of the last three 4th tests results are increasing from originally 0.18 to the highest 0.48. I asked and people told me it's normal as long as it's lower than 1, don't need to worry, is that right. Will it keep increasing with the time going by? Is my latest test conclusive that I'm not infected or in another words, do all of my tests show that I'm not infected. Do I need to test anymore? Cuz i read online that people taking pep may need as long as 6 months or even a year to get a conclusive result, Is that right? And why am I keeping having these symptoms that seem can't be treated, because all the medicine I'm taking seem not working at all. I'm so confused and stressed. Please help me with my questions.
Thanks for reading and answering in your busy schedule, and sorry for writing so long.
Hi, so a few months ago, I was visiting another city. While taking a walk with my friends we noticed a homeless man who was about to fall over, so my friend quickly went to go help him stand up and sit down on a bench. Meanwhile I saw that the man had left his belongings on the ground, including a plastic bag. As I grabbed the plastic bag to give it to the man, with my hands, I noticed a sharp sensation in a few places in my hand, like needle pricks. I opened the bag and saw needle syringes scattered with tissues. My hand was also bleeding in maybe 3 spots. I never made the connection that this was a risk, as I just assumed it was for diabetes or something, and just cleaned my hands and went on without more thought.
However, I recently read about the risks of needle pricks, and am now highly worried I was exposed to something like HIV.
Do you think there was any risk?
Hi, I'm worried because I was masturbating with a man (no risk at all) but I tried to perform some oral sex to him, but after 2 or 3 seconds I realized it wasn't correct so I stopped, and now I'm scared because I washed my teeth like 1 hour before that, and also I had small sores as I'm using braces permanently. I couldn't see any wound or lots of pre-seminal liquid on his penis, but I'm scared because maybe I got infected if he was HIV positive, is there any risk in your opinion? Will a 4th gen test be reliable after 21 days? Thanks for your answer I'm really worried
I had unprotected virginal sex with a CSW. But i took pep for 28 days. I started PEP within 72hours. I had the following tests which came back negative.
HIV Duo at 14 weeks post pep.
Hiv rapid ingure prick abtibody test and hepatis A,B and C antigen and antibody test at 4months post PEP.
Hiv rapid fingure prick antibody test at 6 months 1 day post pep.
The problem is that i have been having persistent oral thrush. Am i negative or can i wait and do another hiv test to confirm my status?
Please your response will be highly appreciated
Please help me lessen my overthinking and anxiety.
I had the said test yesterday, it turned out non reactive.
My questions are:
The person who performed the test did not used a pipette in collecting my blood, he just gently pinched my pricked finger and put certain amount of blood directly on to the test cassette sample well, would it interfere the accuracy of the result?
And it may sound irrelevant but, my bleeding pricked finger touched the sample well of the test cassette (recently opened from a sealed pouch) would I be at risk of infection from it?
I have an extreme fear of needles, sharp objects and fear of hiv. I apologize for my questions but I really need some one to answer this. I constantly worry about this all the time. I know I need help, but believe me I have tried several times, talking to doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists, medicine...unfortunately nothing has helped me.
Quickly, let me give you the complete story. A few months ago my neighbors were being excessively loud very late outside. Teenagers, were having a party and they were playing music so late. I called the cops and asked them to go to their house (since it was almost 1 am) to have them turn the music off. It is not the first time I have called on them. I did call once before that a few years back. Anyway, I got nervous what if they do something to us because we called the cops. The neighbors somehow knew it was us because one of the parents, who must have been inside the house when the kids were outside making all that noise, was home and must have spoke with the cops. She apologized for her kids making noise the next day, either because she knew it was that we called the cops or maybe the cops mentioned that it was us next store that made a complaint. Regardless, I worried I hope they do not do anything to our house etc.
Now fast forward to a few months - about a week or so ago. My husband was in the backyard, we have a very woodsy area, he was trimming bushes and trees and usually he does this with gloves on but he was doing it very quickly and so he trimmed a bunch of brush that was overgrowing near our garden which is located in the back yard and the woods are around us and our next door neighbors, (who we called the cops on) house is right there, in the back yard where the kids hang out you can see them through the trees and bushes when we are in our back yard. Anyway, my husband was trimming all the bushes WITHOUT gloves and he picked up the stuff to throw it further into the woods and he got poked in his finger by something sharp. Once he told me about it I freaked out automatically thinking what if he got poked by a used needle that the kids threw from their yard over to our yard, with the intent to harm us while doing yard work, because they are upset we called the cops on them a few months ago. My husband, did not see anything really and just assumed it was a branch however, carried on like it was nothing. There were no thorns over where he was picking up all the stuff he trimmed and so my thought is what if it was a needle. Now I am intensely worried and upset thinking what if he got poked with an hiv infected needles. God knows what kids are doing partying in their yard, most likely drinking but my mind is thinking what if they are doing drugs and shooting up..who knows. Because it happened to my husband, my fear is now hiv and that I have it too because my husband and I have sex. So I ask you please kindly answer me and tell me if this is me being irrational or if this is a legit concern. I have no one to talk to about this and my husband says if I ask him if it is a needle again he is going to flip out. I mean, I do not understand why he is not concerned about a needle and just assumes it was a sharp branch that happened to poke his finger. Please tell me if I should be concerned about hiv (since I have sex with my husband) or if this story sounds highly irrational. Has anyone ever got HIV from poking their finger with a needle on the ground? Lastly, I know you were not there, however, after hearing this story, would you think it was a needle too or do you think it is because I have this extreme fear that I am just automatically think this and should I be worried now that my husband and I now have hiv? Is this likely to happen please please please help. I am so upset/depressed and worried I am freaking out all my myself.
Is Rizene alone a good hiv-PEP drug, taken within 48 hours after exposure and testing hiv-negative.
I had an exposure due to broken condom with a CSW about 4 months ago.
This is my only exposure.
After that I got tested few times with 4th generation DU test as below.
1. 6 Weeks after exposure - NonReactive.
2. 10.5 weeks after exposure - NonReactive
3. 13 Weeks after exposure - NonReactive.
in between , I used a dose of antibiotic for throat infection & also eye drops with steroids.
Would this affect the test results ?
Should I consider these results as conclusive or test after 6 months.
thanks for your help in advance.
Good morning I read many answers in HIV HELP LINE however one of your volunteers has given inconsistent and erroneous answers that are consistent with the responses of the other volunteers. While everyone indicates that the window period is 12 weeks (84 days) Mr. Trevor indicates that they are 90 and he has answered many that if they have taken the test at 84 they should do it again after 90 days. He also replied that the elisa of 4 generation is not a duo test. So, the question is because someone from your volunteer community called "Trevor" responds differently to all the rest ????
I had unprotected sex with a sex worker.after 4 days I was placed on 30 days PEP (Yes, I know it is late). I completed the 30 days and 4 weeks post PEP (8.5 weeks post exposure) I had 2 Rapid finger prick tests. Both came back Negative.
1. I was wondering if PEP has any chance at working after 3 days ?
2. What are the chances of it interfering with an antibody test at 8 weeks post exposure ?
Thanks for your time
