this is my 3rd time positing to you but no reply at all. I am totally broken due to fear and anxiety of hiv please help me to sort out this.
I must admit that after an unprotected brief anal intercourse a second foolish mistake to do a test alere determine at home while i was not totally aware of the procedure. I did and a grey control line and a faint grey line appear after few minutes on the test strip i was shocked and assumed that my life has been ended up. after reading much articles and who website i came to know that this might be an invalid test as what i saw was a shadow and alere determine requires coloured line for reactive as many other experienced the same and WHO also stated in their practice module 9. since then i repeated test as follows
High top antibody rapid home test (non reactive at 7.5 week)
Alere determine done by me at 8.5 and 9 week non reactive
Since i know i should confirm my result i went to a health care provider in my area and tested with SD Bioline hiv 3.0 test non reactive at 10 week.
I tested again by myself at 13 week using alere determine hiv 1/2 nonreactive
at 15 week i went to a local community health care centre where they tested me with hiv antibody test rapid test non reactive
at 20 week i went to the same health care centre for the retest and they test me with alere hiv combo twice and reassure me that i am free from hiv.
Please help me to sort out my anxiety. i shall be thankfull
During my last sexual encounter which was due to fantasies with a pre op trans woman, received protected anal, but I got anxious that the condom could have been broken, I have made the following tests:
1. HIV PCR and VDRL at day 8, All negative
2. HIV 1/2 COMBO/DUO Test at day 28, All negative
3. HIV COMBO/DUO , VDLR, Hep B and Hep C at day 94, All negative
4. HIV COMBO/DUO at day 101, Negative.
So basically all is negative, but I still have anxiety that I could have messed something with the window period.
Are HIV and VDRL conclusive after 3 months period?
I would appreciate your kind support in this matter.
On 10-11 September night (2016) I kissed and give a guy a handjob! He did not ejaculate, but there was a lot of precum. I do not remember if I had any cuts/abrasions on my hand. Also, he touched my panties where the vagina was with his finger and I do not remember If he had touched his penis before.
On December 2, 2016 - he TOLD me he took a combo CMIA Hiv test that was negative.
On December 3, 2016 - I took an ELISA - I think it was 3rd generation, but I am not sure. Might have been 4th.
So, I took my test exactly on the 84 day (arter 83.5 days to be exact) and it was negative.
IT IS CONCLUSIVE ? Or should I retest? Thank you!
Dear AIDS Vancouver,
Thank you very much for all your help and for replying to all the questions.
I am a 29 year old gay male, and I had sex on the 26th of October, where I was the insertive partner. However, the condom broke just at the beginning, and I have noticed it only 30 seconds after it broke, after which I have pulled out (I am also circumcised). The next day (29hrs later) I went to the hospital and got PEP. Immediately after starting taking PEP, I got a red sun-burn-like rash under my armpit and belly and legs, and I went back to the hospital and they replaced the regimen Ive got with Descovy and Rezolsta that I am using now. I know it couldnt have been ARS as it was a day after exposure.
Later on around the 6th day I got a slight cold and fever, which disappeared quickly.
On the 10/11th day I developed a maculopapular rash all over my shuoulders, neck, a bit on my back and chest, it was horrible, amd a fever. I went back to the hospital on the 11th day and they did an RNA test which came back negative. As soon as I got the results my rash and my fever disappeared.
On the 15th day I started getting chills and a fever all of a sudden in the evening (38,8), which subsided the next morning, but I started sweating all the time, especially in the evenings, I am having nightsweats for 2 days now.
I am on the 17th day now post exposure and PEP, and I am terrified.
Can you please tell me how big was my risk to start with, if the guy was positive? Could all of these be ARS? And could the RNA test taken 11 days post exposure be a false negative due to the PEP medication I was taking (because I have read somewhere online from some doctors who have been replying to others, that PEP can cause a false negative RNA?). But then again, can one have ARS symptoms if the viral load is undetectable?
Many many thanks!
Hello good day! I'm from Brazil! Forgive me my weak English!
I had a high-risk exposure in which the condom was disrupted in vaginal sex. The girl I related was at the end of my period, but I did not notice visible blood on my penis. When I realized that I had broken I took it off and immediately went to wash. After 10 days of the act I began to feel symptoms that until the present date permance. The symptoms were: oral ulcers, rash, pharyngitis, shivering, body aches and pains, lack of appetite, white tongue, nail fungus, rough nails, peeling of hands and feet, nausea and vomiting, weight loss. I tested with RNA PCR and elisa 4th generation with 20, 33, 50, 70 and 80 and 90 days and gave undetectable and negative. I did another 120 day test and it turned out to be negative. I called the partner to test and she tested with a quick test on the 100 day mark and a 3rd generation Elisa in 120 days and she also came out negative. But I still have symptoms like white tongue, white throat secretion, rash and itching through the body. I am not satisfied with the test, as I fear late seroconversion. What advice can you give me? Thank you very much.

Hello .... I am sending mail from Iran ... I do not have sex ... I'm not addicted ... I just went to a dentist ... four days after root cure ... I got cold ... I was very worried ... six weeks later ... I tested at the AIDS Center ... it was negative .... They did not tell me to test it again ... is this normal? What should I do? ... I also have a ocd disorder
Hey guys and thanks for the help !! I got myself in a really bad situation and cheated on my girlfriend with a commercial sex worker while on a weekend away with some friends. She insisted on using a condom and so did I (she actually had a full bowl of them). I did not check the condom at the end. The was the first time I sleep with a sex worker and this was my second sexual partner ever. I felt horrible an admitted everything to my GF. We have talked everything through and I have never felt more confident about being and staying monogamous and I want to make sure I can continue this relationship in a fully healthy way. I just want to know If my test are fully reliable and I can can have no worry of putting my girlfriend at risk. These are the tests I took all of which were performed by a doctor or nurse:
4weeks- full std panel
6 weeks (44 days)- 4th generation HIV lab test, syphillis, Hep
6 weeks (44 days)- Insti rapid test
8 weeks (58 days)-4th generation HIV lab test, syphillis, Hep
9 weeks (67 days)- 4th gen HIV rapid test
10 weeks (69 days)- 4th gen HIV rapid test
10 weeks (72 days)-4th generation HIV lab test, syphillis, Hep
11 weeks (75 days)- 3rd gen HIV lab test
11 weeks (76 days)- Insti HIV rapid test
12 weeks (83 days)- 3rd gen HIV rapid test
12 weeks (86 days)- insti rapid test
13 weeks (94 days)- 3rd gen HIV rapid test
13 weeks (94 days)- 4th gen HIV rapid test
14 weeks (96 days)- 4th generation HIV lab test, syphillis, Hep
I know this amount of testing is sort of excessive (actually really excessive)...but I just really want to keep my partner as safe as possible. Thank you guys in advance
I tested 4th generation test for 4, 6, 8 weeks after I had exposure with Thailand sex worker, and it was negative.
Also, I tried to confirm myself to have a last test at 12 weeks with oraquick, and it was negative.
So, as far as I know, I am negatvie and there shouln't be any more doubt about it.
But since my girlfriend was having fever and throat pain for few days, I started to worry about hiv again...
My biggest question is that, how we can really confirm that window period is 12 weeks(or 3month)?
I found that, it is really difficult to find someone who found out themselves about their hiv infection in 12 weeks, as i see, most of them didn't even know if they had it, and just diagnosed few months, or even few years later.
So how these doctors figured out that window period is 12 weeks? and also, as you may know, Hiv-2 is really really rare in everywhere except for West Africa, then how they could find out hiv-2 window period?
please give me answers..I am still worried..
sorry for my poor english.
