I had an exposure on March 7th, 2016.. I tested up until June 1st, 2016 which makes it around 86-87 days, which is around 12 weeks and it came back negative. I did not use PEP for this exposure. I should add that it was with a sex worker and I used protection and it did not break. I was happy to take the negative result as conclusive until I read that if you have used PEP in the past it might delay the reading and I might have to wait up to 6 months for a conclusive result. I used PEP on two occasions in the past and adhered to the regimen and tested up to 6 months for each time. Does that mean my 12 week Neg for this exposure part can be wrong? I am only worried because I am scared that I may have aquired HIV despite condoms, from the base of my penis, through small cuts, undiagnosed herpes, or syphilis or something.
Please let me know. Will past PEP usage affect my 12 week negative result from the tests done at a reputable sexual health clinic here in Australia ?
I last asked a question on this platform on 7th of JUN and well answered. Thank you guys for the services. however, my worries continue. Due to nonstop browsing of the internet for HIV information since i last became suspicious of my possible exposure to HIV now 2 months back, and almost having visited every HIV site, it looks like every site mentions skin rash and headache as some of the major symptoms of early HIV infections. It is by no doubt that i have experienced these symptoms at one time and the current one being a very mild headache. 1 week ago i experienced strong dizziness where low blood pressure and dehydration were diagnosed and was put on IVs and the dizziness reduced but hardly has the mild headache gone away. OK, i know also these can be due many other causes but i cant rule out the fact this can be due to sero-conversion illness because never in my life have i ever got this severe dehydration, and a SKIN RASH!!!. Though all my sexual activities were categorized low risk, i cant rule out the fact carefulness could not have been highly observed during the acts. Nevertheless, i have become a daily customer to the HIV testing centers and all my 6 tests have returned non reactive the recent one having been made on 22nd (8/9 weeks) JUN. My brother who is a health professional has told me never to rely on these rapid (determine) tests as they can only be trusted 60% before the 3 months window period yet i also fear to do other tests like the PCR which can detect the virus no mater the window period. some piece of advice please!!
hiv antibiotic test told me that i dosent have any infection should i belive it or go for another test
hello sir i am badhri from India 2 days before i have gone to blood bank to donate blood platileatus after testing my blood he told me that you hiv symptoms,to verify there i have undergone hiv antibiotic the result showed that i doesnt have any virus, whom should i be-leave now please clarify my dought
My name is Marius and I am 31 old.4 weeks ago I had vaginal sex and oral sex with a sexworker protected. I protected all the time. Only a week after I started having various symptoms . Now after 4 weeks I took the first test and the result are :
Anti - HIV 1+2-Ser / electrochemiluminiscenta (HIV combi)--------------Negative
RPR cantitativ --Ser / Metoda imunoturbidimetrica ----------------------Negative
Anticorpi Treponema pallidum - cantitativ ---Ser / ECLIA--TPLA-----------Negative
Even if the test came out negative after 4 weeks , I worry because I had a healed wound on his penis and think not to have taken any virus even if I protected.
I would be eternally grateful if you would tell how conclusive test is done only after 4 weeks.
Thank you very much
I have some concerns about the reliability of the following HIV test ( it turned out to be NON REACTIVE):
4th generation HIV 1/2 Ag/Ab by chemilumiescence.
I took it at a private lab, with blood collection, 60 after the risky situation; such event was vaginal intercourse ( I am a man) with condom, nevertheless I didn't know the status of the condom (If it was out of date or weak) but it didn't feel as breaking (never experienced a breaking condom so I didn't know the feeling).
Also, I would like to know if isotrerinoin ( I am taking it for my acne) can affect such test.
Can You, please, tell me how long is window period for HIV subtype CRF 01 ae virus that is predominant in some parts of Asia? I had all symptoms of HIV that can exist, but my test come negative after 110 days. Result was 0.5 negative. Test that I have done was CMIA. I found some informations on the net that some of subtypes of HIV have longer window period than usual three months. Please give me some answer.
Thanks a lot.
I was wanting your clarity on this issue.
I had a possible exposure about six months ago. I went and got tested after four months as this was what I thought would be out of the "window period." However, the counselor who helped me with the test said that despite my test being negative that there is no certainty on peoples bodies producing antibodies in that specific period of time. And I would have to come back 2-3 months later. I then came back again after six months from possible exposure (2 months later) and got a negative result again. However, I was told again that I cant take this with certainty as it can take years for the body to produce antibodies. I am really worried and just wanted to know if you could please shed some light on this, and please help clarify what length the window period is and whether or not i would need to test again.
does the condition mentioned in the title constitute a risk of false hiv negative testing using a 4th gen. duo test at day 42 after possible exposure ?
I had sex with a RLD Amsterdam prostitute 3 months ago. I used a condom, for both oral and vaginal sex. I had no worries since I protected myself and I'm aware of the precautions the Netherlands workers use (condoms for everything including oral).
3 weeks ago however, I had a small cut injury (no bigger than 10cm and I had no bleeding), I quickly tried to disinfect it but left it wet with the disinfectant liquid right after I received the cut (day and night for two days), I didn't try to cover the wound or anything (I'm starting to believe that leaving the wound wet and moist while still doing normal day activities like public transportation is what got me infected). The cut was from a barrel that had a metal safety belt thingy ( I cut myself with the metal), however the contents of the barrel were toxic chemical residues from a sink drain in a laboratory. 3 days after the cut it got infected very bad with a bacteria, it extended to at least 40 cm more from the origin of the cut, I began to swell and had blisters filled with pus all around it, the first doctor diagnosed that I should take Ciprofloxacin, the second doctor said this was a mistake and I had to take Dicloxacillin instead, fast forward 3 weeks later and the wound has almost completely healed with new skin.
Around the same time of my cut, I noticed two pearly bumps around my pubic hair, thinking it was pimples I squeezed them and white liquid came out with a little blood, afterwards I noticed two more bigger sized bumps, the same doctor that misdiagnosed me gave me a fungus cream medicine for it, saying it was probably fungus and that it should go away quickly without even looking at the bumps, he just asked me what they looked like and made a prescription based on that.
Fast forward 2 weeks, after noticing no improvement with this cream and actually getting worse and I was diagnosed with Mollscum contagious by a dermatologist, he told me this was an awful prescription that my previous doctor game me, and that it made a simple problem extend much bigger, since the virus has spread around my pubic hair area with more bumps, he made me realize it was because I kept rubbing the molluscum pimples around other areas of my body). I had cryotheraphy since then and have controlled the infection somewhat (I'm still not entirely molluscum free).
Here's where I began to worry, both of these disseases suggest after reading on the internet, that while it may happen on normal people, it may happen more often with people who have a weakened immune system by HIV. So of course, I panicked, feeded my brain with negative thoughts and haven't been able to shake off this whole thing by constantly reading on the internet day after day to the point of depression.
I did the most logical thing, which was to get a test. I tested at around 84 days after that sex encounter exposure and the test result came back negative, I've read online that this should be considered a conclusive result since around 99% of people would've presented enough antibodies to be picked up by then.
I wasn't convinced enough so I did a second test at 15 weeks (in a different clinic as well) and came back negative again.
Should I leave this matter to rest now? I had no worries about my sex encounter until these two things happened, it just worries me that these things happened around the same timeframe and worsened so fast. Should I chalk it up to bad first doctor medications?
How safe am I that this is a conclusive result at 15 weeks?
Thank you for reading.
i had an exposure with a CSW on april 7. she sucked my nipples and gave me a blowjob. It was protected oral sex and I was wearing condom throughout. I did not have any vaginal or anal sex with the girl. She gave me an unprotected handjob. Later She lied naked with me for half an hour and later I just chatted with her about her life, why she became a sex worker and if anyone in her family knew about what she did. I felt really bad after her hearing her story and felt I was exploiting someone and just asked her to go without having even any protected penetrative sex.
I dont know her HIV status but she insisted on using condoms for oral sex even though I was willing to go for oral without condom, saying she needed to protect herself. She also refused anal sex, saying she never has it and only has vaginal sex with a condom and told me she never had sex without a condom with any customer of hers. She also told me she does not let anyone ejaculate on her body as she is scared of diseases and STD. Now i dont believe any of this as such since at the end she is CSW. I am assuming her to be hiv positive.
After she went I freaked out the next day that I may have caught HIV because of her sucking my nipples if she had any bleeding gums or mouth ulcer. I checked my nipples and did not notice any sign of injury or mark but got very scared and started testing for hiv.I did not notice any blood coming form her mouth and did not have any cut or injury before she sucked my nipples. After the event i checked my nipples repeatedly but could not find any injury or small cut. I am very scared.
please refer to my test results below:-
risk date- april 7,2016
hiv-1 rna QUANTITATIVE pcr on april 18- negative, target not detected (10 days after exposure)
hiv 1/2 & p24 antigen combo test on may 6- index value- 0.07 negative(28 days after exposure)
hiv-2 pcr detection on may 14- negative, target not detected(37 days after exposure)
hiv 1/2 & p24 antigen combo test on may 21- index value- 0.11 target not detected(44 days after exposure)
hiv-1 rna QUALITATIVE PCR on may 24- negative, target not detected(46 days after exposure)
now can i consider myself 100% negative for both hiv-1 and hiv-2 and move on with my life or do i need a confirmation with an antibody testing at 90 day mark? is there a possibility that all my pcr and hiv 1/2 and p24 antigen combo test(CMIA) are false allnegatives? Is the hiv 1/2 & p24 combo test the same as the hiv duo test? I have read that both the duo and pcr test are considered conclusive by 4-6 weeks by hiv specialists... i know u may say that i dont really need testing but please help.
