I want to know to ask if the hiv transmit through receiving oral from a girl of unknown status but has bleeding gums?.If yes what are the chances and please tell me the no.of cases you have come over with ?
Thank you for contacting AIDS Vancouver Helpline as your source for HIV/AIDS related information.
Receiving oral sex is considered a negligible risk as there is a potential for bodily fluid exchange and in your case that would be blood; however there has never been a confirmed report. Before engaging in intimate contact with others, ensure there is no open sores/wounds or bleeding as this can serve as a source of HIV transmission. Please consider following up with your HIV testing at 3 months/12 weeks post risk exposure for conclusive results and also consider including Hep B and C testing (at least after 4 weeks) as these are blood borne viruses.
Best wishes. Janet AIDS Vancouver Helpline Volunteer
