I was anally fingered. The partner had cuts on finger that I wasnt aware of at the time.
Do i need testing????
Thank you for using the AIDS Vancouver Helpline as your source for HIV-related information.
Fingering is considered a negligible risk for HIV transmission. In theory, fingering does present a potential for exchange of body fluids and consequently transmission of HIV, but there has never been a confirmed report of HIV virus transmitted this way. While it is not recommended that you have a person with an active fresh wound finger you, we here at AIDS Vancouver have never seen an exposure to HIV from fingering or being fingered with a cut, scrape, sore, break or injury on the finger. I recommend you to not get tested for the situation at hand, but to use condoms and water based lubricants for all sexual encounters and receive regular testing for all sexually transmitted infections.
Thank you for your question and please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns.
