Answer:

Hello and thanks for reaching out to the AIDS Vancouver Helpline.

It sounds like you are concerned about whether your sexual activity puts you at risk of acquiring HIV.

Things were a little unclear in your post, but if you were to receive Oral sex it would be considered a Neglible Risk because there is no direct access for the virus to enter the bloodstream. Furthermore, if you gave Oral sex then you would be at a Low Risk of acquiring HIV as there is an exchange of body fluids and there has been a few reports of infection. Regarding kissing you would be at No Risk of acquiring HIV as there is no access for the virus to enter the bloodstream. Below is an HIV Transmission chart which shows the necessary factors needed for successful HIV Transmission.

HIV TRANSMISSION EQUATION

BODY FLUID
+
ACTIVITY
+
DIRECT ACCESS TO BLOODSTREAM
• blood (including menstrual) • unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse • vagina
• semen • sharing needles • anus
• pre-cum • mother to child (in specific cases) • urethra in the penis
• rectal secretions • open cuts and sores (in theory)
• vaginal fluids • other mucosal membranes
• breast milk • points of needle injection

= RISK OF HIV TRANSMISSION
