possible hiv exposure

Question:

Could I have been infected with an STD if a guy used his finger to rub the outside of my anus with his sperm? I am a guy. Oraquick results at 7 months are negative.

Answer:

Hello and thank you for using the AIDS Vancouver Helpline as your source of HIV/AIDS related information.

This activity has a negligible risk: meaning even though there is a fluid exchange, there has never been a confirmed report of HIV being passed in this way. HIV requires direct access to the bloodstream in order to start an infection, for example in unprotected intercourse. The virus is very fragile and beings to die as soon as it is outside of a human host.

Other STIs are passed much easier than HIV. Check out this link with information about your chances of acquiring different kinds of STIs from various sexual activities:

Your Oraquick results are conclusively negative for no current HIV infection.

Thank you for your question and please don’t hesitate to contact us in the future.
