Protected Sex

Question:

Hello,
Few days ago I had a protected sex with a woman she probably takes drugs. It was protected insertive sex and inserted protected oral sex, I was little bit drunk but I'm not sure if the condom was applied properly but as long as remember was on all the time and did not slip or broke. Also I did a bit of fingering so is it possible to transmit HIV or any other STIs? Thank for answer

Answer:

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. From what we gather from the question, you were asking about acquiring HIV through protected insertive sex. From the information given, this scenario is determined to be Low Risk (Evidence of transmission occurs through these activities when certain conditions are met). This can mainly occur due to improper use and potential breakage of the condom.

The scenario mentioned above does the three components of the transmission equation. The three components are: HIV in bodily fluid transferred through direct access to the bloodstream during a high risk activity.

An individual engaging in protected sex with a partner of unknown status can satisfy the transmission equation. Bodily fluid that contains HIV (blood, semen (including pre-ejaculate), vaginal fluids, breast milk, and rectal secretions) can have direct access to the bloodstream through protected sex if improper use of a condom occurs (1). You stated that you could not remember if proper use was involved. If there was breakage or misuse of protection, then this could be considered an activity that satisfies the equation.

Recommendation: Refer to Physician for HIV test.
