Question:

Thank you in advance for answering my query. This is my previous post, "http://helpline.aidsvancouver.org/question/worriedbyfear". I took a rapid HIV test and the result came as, " Non-Reactive". Can I consider this as conclusive?

Answer:

Hi there, thanks for contacting the AIDS Vancouver helpline with your HIV related questions/concerns. We're happy to help!

I'm glad to hear that you took the initiative to get an HIV test! THis is the only way to be sure of your status, so great job.

Your exposure was in November, from what I understand, so if you have taken this test recently, then yes it is conclusive! All HIV tests are considered conclusive at 12 weeks post exposure, so if the test was taken at least 12 weeks after the last possible exposure, then your results are conclusive.

For more info about HIV testing, please visit http://www.avert.org/hiv-testing

I hope this helped to answer your question!

Sincerely,

Christina
