Cat Scratch

Question:

In a hypothetical situation (if a cat scratched an HIV positive person and then immediately scratched me),  Hello and thank you for helping to dispel some of my worries. Recently, I was scratched a little by a stray cat and was worried about getting infected with HIV through thuld infection be possible?

Answer:

: Hi there and thanks for contacting the AIDS Vancouver Online Helpline as a source for HIV/AIDS related information.
HIV is an acronym for Human Immunodefiency Virus.  This means that the HIV virus can only be transferred from one human to another.  A cat cannot pass HIV from one feline to another, and therefore, cannot pass it to a human being
I trust I have addressed you concerns however, should further information be required, feel free to contact me again.
