Hi,

Is my negative hiv test at 85 days conclusive?

85 days = 12 weeks and 1 day.

Thank you

Hi there, thank you for contacting the AIDS Vancouver Helpline for HIV and AIDS related information.

To answer your question, yes, your test is considered completely conclusive! For the majority of cases any HIV test is considered absolutely conclusive at 84 days post exposure. There are a few exceptions to this however: People who are undergoing chemotherapy, hepatitis treatment, pre-exposure prophylaxis or post-exposure prophylaxis, or people who have a pre-existing immunodeficiency disorder, are recommended to be retested at 6 months. Keep in mind these conditions are ones that most people would be aware of having already.

I hope that answers your question and alleviates your anxiety!

In health,

Arne, AIDS Vancouver Helpline Volunteer
