Hi I would like to firstly thank you for the great service you are doing for anxious people like us. Recently I've conducted 2 tests with SD Bioline HIV Ag/Ab combo tests and they show Negative. Is the tests conclusive for exposure which is more than 2 years ago?

Your advise is much appreciated.

Hi there, and thanks a lot for contacting the AIDS Vancouver Helpline for you HIV/AIDS related health information.

It sounds like you are concerned about the reliability of your test results.

HIV tests are considered conclusive 3 months post exposure. Therefore, the 2 tests that you took 2 years post exposure are considered conclusive.

I would encourage you to check out the following resources about HIV:

  • Risk Assessment Chart

  • HIV Basics

  • Thank you for contacting the AIDS Vancouver Helpline.
