Hello and thanks for reaching out to the AIDS Vancouver Helpline.

It seems you are concerned that the symptoms that you have been having are HIV related. We are glad to provide some information.

It is encouraging that you have taken HIV tests. You have not indicated whether this was after a risky exposure and how much time elapsed between these tests. At Aids Vancouver we encourage that people use HIV testing as a regular health maintenance routine. This means getting tested once or twice a year. This will help to put your mind at rest. any HIV tests that are done three months after an exposure are considered conclusive.

We do not determine the HIV status of an individual using symptoms. The only way to determine the HIV status is by getting tested as some symptoms can be caused by other viral infections that are not related to HIV. We recommend that you discuss these symptoms with your doctor as they are in the best position to advise you. We do not comment on other STD related issues. Your doctor or clinic can best advise you on this.

The Aids Vancouver Helpline Online forum has postings that are related to your question that you can read for additional information. If you have any further questions feel free to contact us again.

Thank you for contacting the AIDS Vancouver Helpline.
