Hi, I know this question is a bit repetitive, but I just cannot get it of my mind. I recently went to a massage parlor and the lady there performed me a happy ending massage. I know this is a risk free activity. However, during the massage, she placed her finger in ma anus to further stimulate me. I am worried since I have not check if there were cuts on her finger. Do I need a test?

Hello, and thank you for contacting Aids Vancouver Helpline. I'm sorry that you have been worried, and I hope I can help to alleviate some of your stress about this matter.

As you mentioned, receiving a hand job does not pose a risk to you for acquiring HIV. Also, "fingering", whether in anus or vagina, is considered a NEGLIGIBLE risk. A negligible risk means that although in theory there may be a small chance of HIV transmission, there has not been any cases reported of HIV being transmitted in this way. Also, even if there were cuts on her finger, HIV is not transmitted through superficial cuts. Therefore, I wouldn't worry about this situation and you do not need a test.

I hope I answered your question. If you like more information feel free to contact us again, or visit us at AidsVancouver.org.
