Hi
Recently I had a tetanus shot. After giving the injection the nurse was about to put a bandaid which then dropped on floor while removing cover on bandaid. She then picked it up and placed it on my hand where she injected. I am extremely worried if there was any hiv blood on floor and bandaid came in contact as my injection site blood came contact with it. Is it the transmission route please explain me because it is making me paranoid and extremely nervous.
Thanks

Thank you for reaching out to AIDS Vancouver. Sounds like you're really worried about this incident.

HIV no longer is transmittable after it's been exposed to an open air environment. So you would not be at risk of acquiring HIV through a band-aid that has come into contact with the floor.

Yours in health,

Matt, AIDS Vancouver Volunteer
