Hi. My mom bought me two bathing suits and they had those hygienic stickers on it. Like they had a sticker where the vagina touches the bathing suit. My mom bought it for me about a last week and left it in my shelf in my
Room, today I took it out and I tried it on. Stupidly I touched that
Hygienic sticker and I tired it on
With that thing. And now
I feel
Stupid and I'm
Really freaked
Out about hiv tranmission.
I also had sex with my
Boyfriend right after I put that
Thing on. So
Did I just infect us both???? I'm
So

Sex.. And I was wearing that bathing suit bottom
Before hand. Am
I at risk because I wore it, touched the hygienic sticker and then scratched myself and then

Hi there,

Thank you for choosing the AIDS Vancouver Helpline as your source of information.

As far as HIV transmission goes, for a risk to exist, specific HIV positive fluids (vaginal/anal fluids, blood, semen) must come into direct contact with the blood stream of an HIV negative person.

You trying on a bathing suit bottom that may or may not have been exposed to HIV does not put you at risk for two main reasons: based on the situation you have described, HIV does not have direct access to your blood stream. Furthermore, HIV cannot survive in an open air environment for more than few seconds. Even IF your bathing suit was exposed to HIV (as unlikely it may have been), by the time you came in contact with the bathing suit, HIV would have perished and you are then at no risk of acquiring HIV.

You may find the following two links to be helpful: [AIDS Vancouver Helpline ](http://helpline.aidsvancouver.org/) and [Smart Sex Resource](http://smartsexresource.com/)

In health,

Moe, AIDS Vancouver Helpline Volunteer.
