I bought a bikini bottom and it came with the hypogentic sticker on it. I threw it In my draw with the sticker. I'm sure others have tired that bikini on that's why the sticker is there. What if someone else discharged on that sticker ??? Anyways that sticker touched all my other underwear in that draw and now I'm scared to wear any of it because of hiv. Is this a rational hiv concern?

Hi,

Thanks for contacting AIDS Vancouver Helpline. I will try and answer your questions as best I can.

First off HIV is only be transferable through human-to-human contact and would have to transferable through a person's bloodstream such as a sexual activity, or needle sharing. In addition body fluids must be present. HIV dies very quickly when exposed to air.

So you do not need to worry about exposure to HIV through your underwear or bikini and there is absolutely "no risk."

If you would like more information you can look at[ http://www.aidsvancouver.org](www.aidsvancouver.org) or you can reach us by phone at 604-696-4666.

Thanks for contacting AIDS Vancouver Helpline.

Best Wishes,
