Hi,

I'm 29 years old and I had unprotected sex with someone once only. Got tested on July 15, 2019 and the result came back as 0.17 borderline. What does it mean?. Do I have HIV or not?.. got scared after seeing the result. Should I get tested back again?.

Hi there,

Thank you for your inquiry. From what we gather from the question, you were asking about the *borderline* result that you have received as of July 15th, 2019.

It appears to us that these results are inconclusive and further HIV screening may be required.

Official HIV testing guidelines still recommend re-testing at 12 weeks post-exposure for completely conclusive results.

To ease your mind, you may find re-testing to be your best option for accurate results that can give you a definitive answer.

Recommendation: Refer to Physician for HIV screening.

All the best,

AIDS Vancouver Online/Helpline, Cody
