Hi there!

Thanks for using the AIDS Vancouver Helpline for such a great question. I hope the information I provide you will be able to help and answer your questions.

I understand that you're worried about the reliability of your test results, here is some information to help you.

All HIV Tests are considered conclusive after 3 months (84 days specifically). Considering yours was done on the 96th day post exposure, your test is reliable and the result is conclusive.

The only exceptions for this 3 month rule are:

1) if you're on anti-retroviral treatment for Hepatitis C
2) If you're on treatment for cancer (chemotherapy)
3) If you're on PEP/PREP treatment for HIV
or 4) If you have an immunodeficiency disease (you would know as they are diagnosed during infancy).

Assuming none of these are the case, the tests are conclusive. If any of the above conditions apply to you, the tests are conclusive after 6 months.

Feel free to check out our website at [aidsvancouver.org](aidsvancouver.org) for more information about testing, or consider teaming up with your health care practitioner to address any future concerns about testing.

Thanks again for the great question,

Sincerely,

Christina
