I am 30 year old male.I want to know can i get infected from oral activities like deep kissing(after brushing my teeth),hickeys and vaginal fluid on my finger.I know this are low risk activities but still i am very much concerned.I did some blood test (Tri-dot, Elisa and P24 Hiv Duo) after 9 weeks of exposure. All came out as negative. My question is should i retest at 13th week or the results are conclusive?

Hello and thanks for reaching out to the AIDS Vancouver Helpline.

You are concerned about contracting HIV from deep kissing and fingering. We are glad to provide some information.

Kissing when there is no blood is considered a No Risk activity. Fingering is considered a Negligible Risk activity.

It is encouraging that you have had a few tests already. For conclusive results we recommend that you get tested at or after 12 weeks from the exposure although in the majority of cases the results do not change from what you have already. We are aware that some professionals will consider results obtained 6 weeks after the exposure as conclusive, however our guidelines remain three months or 12 weeks.

The AIDS Vancouver Helpline Online forum has postings that are related to your question that you can read for additional information. If you have any further questions feel free to contact us again.

Thank you for contacting the AIDS Vancouver Helpline.
