I’m an extremely anxious person and I’m worrying about my HIV risk. I’m going to be very stressed for the next 3 months. I have a guy a hand job, because I didn’t want to have sex as I didn’t know his status. However, when I woke up I had a cut on my finger. I’m extremely worried now that some of the guys cum/semen could of got into my cut. What is the level of risk of this?

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. From what we gather from the question, you were asking about the risk of HIV transmission through giving a hand job with a cut on your finger. From the information given, this scenario is determined to be No Risk (transmission of HIV is not possible in the given scenario).

The scenario mentioned above does not meet the three components of the transmission equation. It does not satisfy the equation because the activity described would not give the virus direct access to your bloodstream. In order for the virus to enter into the bloodstream, a deep open cut or sore that is actively bleeding needs to be present. A superficial cut would not be a sufficient entrance for the virus to gain direct access to the bloodstream.
Helpline Transmission Equation .jpgRecommendation: No need for HIV test with the scenario provided, refer to a healthcare professional for other health related questions.
