I had visited a Strip club last week in NYC. I had a private dance with a lady. I fingered here for a while and then she licked my fingers after that. I kissed here after this.

I am afraid if this will transmit HIV (if the lady was HIV positive). Is there a risk that you see in this?
Kindly help me.

Hello and thanks for reaching out to the AIDS Vancouver Helpline.

HIV require direct access to your blood stream for it to transmit as shown in the following transmission equation.

HIV TRANSMISSION EQUATION

BODY FLUID
+
ACTIVITY
+
DIRECT ACCESS TO BLOODSTREAM
---------- -------- ----------------------------
• blood (including menstrual) • unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse • vagina
• semen • sharing needles • anus
• pre-cum • mother to child (in specific cases) • urethra in the penis
• rectal secretions • open cuts and sores (in theory)
• vaginal fluids • other mucosal membranes
• breast milk • points of needle injection
Fingering is considered a Negligible Risk activity because although it involves body fluids there has never been a confirmed report of transmission through this activity. Also when HIV is exposed to air or saliva it does not transmit. You do not need to be tested for this activity.
