I couldn't find the answer to my question anywhere.

I am married to my wife and sexually active with her only.
But two years ago i had an unprotected vaginal exposure with a sex worker.
As having the lack of knowledge about HIV, i became sexually active with my wife right away.

I know it has been 2 years but during these years i am sexually active with my wife only.

However i have tested almost 6 times for HIV and it came out Non Reactive.

But the only doubts i have in my mind. it didn't pass my 12 weeks of window period without having sex to my wife. if we put this another way i have been sexually active with my wife while testing of HIV.

I tested at 3,4,6,8,10,12 month after my possible exposure.

Does this change the window period everytime i sex with my wife.

I have a horrible sinusitis, gastritis, weight lost and rashes and all these problems started 2 weeks after my post exposure

Please guide me

Thank you for contacting the AIDS Vancouver Helpline Forum.

I understand that you are having some confusion over window periods for HIV testing and this seems to be causing you some stress. For your possible exposure through unprotected sex two years ago the tests show that you are HIV negative. All HIV tests are considered accurate and conclusive at the 12 week mark after the possible exposure.

Every time you have sex (or participate in a risk activity) the window period for testing begins again for that activity. So if you were to have sex with anyone and are wondering if you could have acquired HIV from that encounter the HIV test is considered conclusive 12 weeks after that possible exposure.

You commented on some symptoms you have been experiencing since your possible exposure. HIV is not diagnosed by symptoms only by tests. It would be advisable to partner with your healthcare practitioner to help you address these concerns.

I hope this helps you further your understanding of testing window periods.
