Hi there,

Thank you for your inquiry. From what we gather from the question you were asking about the possibility of HIV transmission through the avenue of sharing a drink with a person who is living with HIV, if there is a presence of HIV positive blood that remains in the drink when you take a sip.

From the information given, this scenario is determined to be No Risk (HIV transmission is not possible in the given scenario). HIV transmission is not possible when sharing a drink with a person who is living with HIV. HIV is not transmitted through sharing drinks, food, utensils, and dishes.

Recommendation: No need for HIV testing, please refer to health care practitioner for more questions.

All the best,

AIDS Vancouver Online/Helpline, Cody
