Hi,

Thank you for contacting AIDS Vancouver, I will try and answer your questions as best I can.

First off HIV does not stigmatize against anyone based on religious, cultural, sexuality reasons, or for that matter any other reason.

Kissing has no risk since saliva is not a fluid known to transmit HIV. It has been estimated a person would have to drink a gallon of saliva to be at risk for HIV. Saliva actually carries an enzyme that inhibits HIV. . As for fingering this has a negligible risk, which means there is a risk level present for HIV transmission because they do involve the exchange of bodily fluids. However, there has never been a confirmed report. For a risk to exist, specific HIV and body fluids (vaginal, anal, blood, or semen) must come into direct contact with a person who has HIV.

So, as far as testing as far as your activities you are at a low to negligible risk to getting HIV. As long as you are sexually active it is a great idea to have an HIV and STI tests.

Hope I have answered your questions.

Best Wishes,

Renee
