Hello,

Thanks for contacting AIDS Vancouver Helpline, I will try and answer your questions as best I can.

It sounds like there was no penetration involved and therefore it seems like the action was non insertive masturbation where there is no risk involved for HIV transmission. HIV dies very quickly when exposed to air, and there was no means for the virus to access your bloodstream. Semen cannot transfer HIV after it is exposed to the air. Also, HIV cannot be transmitted from outside the human body.

Please check our website at http://www.aidsvancouver.org[www.aidsvancouver.org](www.aidsvancouver.org) and for a risk assessment look at [http://helpline.aidsvancouver.org/question/risk-assessment-chart](http://helpline.aidsvancouver.org/question/risk-assessment-chart)http://helpline.aidsvancouver.org/question/risk-assessment-chart.

Hope I have helped answer your question and if you have any further questions please contact us.

Best Wishes,

Renee
