HI, I HAD A SEXUAL ENCOUNTER WITH a girl...we had protected sex but before that she rubbed my penis around her wet vagina. without penetration...two weeks later i started feeling all kinds of body aches... is it possible to contract hiv due to the unprotected frotage? has there been any case around the world where an infection occurred like that?

Hello and thanks for reaching out to the AIDS Vancouver Helpline.

It seems you are concerned about the risk of acquiring HIV from an oral sex activity. We are glad to provide some information.

Giving oral sex is considered a Low Risk activity. This means that there have been a few reports of HIV infection from this activity. We do not determine the HIV status of an individual using symptoms. The reason is that the symptoms might be the result of other viral infections not related to HIV. The only way one can determine their HIV status is by getting tested which we encourage you to do. At Aids Vancouver we encourage people to use HIV testing as a regular health maintenance routine. This means getting tested once or twice a yer. This helps to detect infection early and enable timely appropriate intervention.

The Aids Vancouver Helpline Online forum has postings that are related to your question that you can read for additional information. If you have any further questions feel free to contact us again.

Thank you for contacting the AIDS Vancouver Helpline.
