Worriedhelp

Hello,
Early November, 2014 I had a possible exposure. I can hardly remember what happened.

26 later I i took a Rapid HIV Test that was negative.

11.5 weeks after exposure I had another negative Rapid HIV test

6 months after the exposure I had a Hiv Test where blood was drawn and sent to the lab. I am in Australia I am unsure what test this was.
it was also negative.

2 years later my anxieties flared again I took another blood test that was sent to a lab it was negative.

Now 5.5 years later I have been diagnosed with ibs and anal fissures which I have read are a common symptom for HIV positive people. I have also what appears to be thrush on my soft palate in my mouth. My tongue is consistently white the whole 5.5 years. I have not had any antibiotics for years and think the thrush may have been on my mouth very mildly for nearly 2 years, but seems now to be getting worse
my throat is also inflamed red for years.

My anxiety has flared again as everything online points again to HIV. Should I retest? I rang the doctor who told me to come in and he can do another test.

I have not had another exposure since 2014.

thank you for your time

Hi there,

Thank you for your inquiry. From what we gather from your question, you are asking about retesting for HIV after having multiple tests come back negative.

Given the multiple tests coming back negative it would be safe to say that these symptoms are independent of HIV infection. The (potential) oral thrush may need to be looked at by a doctor for treatment with an anti-fungal mouthwash possibly. I would not recommend getting another test due to prior test results coming back negative combined with the fact that you have not had another exposure since 2014.

Thank you
