Hi there, thank you for contacting the AIDS Vancouver Helpline for HIV and AIDS related information.

To answer your question, you are not at risk for HIV whatsoever. The HIV virus is only really transmitted through sexual activities or through needle sharing. The HIV virus cannot survive outside the body and actually dies within seconds after being exposed to the air. In your situation, there is no possibility that there would be any living HIV virus to get into your blood stream. If you would like any further information regarding HIV, you can visit our website at [www.aidsvancouver.org](www.aidsvancouver.org)

While HIV is not a concern in your case, you may want to consider updating your tetanus vaccination, as this might be a risk. I hope this answers your questions, if not please feel free to contact us again.

In health,

Arne, AIDS Vancouver Helpline Volunteer
