Hi,

I had HIV DUO test today. I've read that p24 antigen can dissepear after 28 days therefore HIV DUO test could be false negative. Is that true?

Note: I have weak immune system.

Hello and thank you for your question!

It is true that the p24 antigen may no longer have been able to be detected by your test. However, at 28 days, the antibodies would be able to be detected. At this time, the test would be highly accurate. The DUO test is named that way because it checks for both things - antigens and antibodies. Keep in mind that we do consider the DUO test conclusive at 6 weeks post exposure, so you may wish to seek another test.

I hope this helps! Please let us know if you need further clarification.

Best,

Caroline
