I tested for 3 times for this.
*Initial test was at 23 days post exposure. Tested for VDRL, Chlamydia Species, HIV, HSV1/2 (Negative)
*Second test was at 73 days post exposure. Tested for VDRL, HIV, HSV1/2 (Negative)
*Third Test was at 94 days post exposure. Tested for HIV (Negative)

1) My exposure risk is protected vaginal sex and unprotected cunnilingus. Based on my history of test. Should i went for another test at 6 month? I'm still worried sick.

2) For my last test (HIV only), i observe the nurse only took very small amount of blood from me (filled on the needle only). Instead of going to full tube of blood. Is that amount of blood able to determine my HIV status?

*using 4th generation ag/ab for all my test.

Kindly please advice me. Im very worried.

Hello,
Thanks for your questions about testing. I can only speak to the HIV testing and in your case you can trust the result you obtained from testing at 94 days past possible exposure. Testing is conclusive at 84 days after exposure, so you are safe. Oral sex presented no risk for HIV transmission. Using a condom for vaginal sex was a good decision and is always the best way to help protect yourself from HIV transmission.

The tests you had are reliable and you do not need further testing at 6 months. The laboratory will collect the amount of blood they need to perform the test according to protocols and you do not need to be concerned about the amount they took from you.

I hope this addresses your concerns and that you can go forward trusting in the results you obtained.

All the best,

Marnelle
