Hi, I'd like to know about some things related to oral sex. Is it possible for the insertive person to get HIV from rough deepthroating? What if there's bleeding during the oral penetration? I've tried to find the answer, but I have not found any specific answer to this question.

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. From what we gather from the question, you were asking about the risk of HIV transmission when receiving unprotected oral sex. From the information given, this scenario is determined to be Negligible Risk (There is no evidence or no documented cases of transmission. However, there is a theoretical possibility of transmission under certain extenuating circumstances).

The scenario mentioned above does not meet the three components of the [HIV Transmission Equation](/www.aidswindsor.org/healthy-me/hiv-transmission/). It does not satisfy the equation because there is no bodily fluid exchanged while receiving oral sex that is deemed at risk of HIV transmission. HIV transmission occurs when the three criteria of the HIV transmission equation are satisfied. The criteria include: bodily fluid containing HIV having direct access to the bloodstream through a High Risk activity.

Because this question pertains to *rough deepthroating*, it is responsible to acknowledge that this may involve the cause of wounds in the back of the throat, and the presence of pre-cum, and semen. This would be a circumstance which would involve a risk for HIV transmission. However, this is not always the case. Each scenario is different, and each exposure unique in this regard.

Recommendation: There are no evidence or no documented cases of transmission. Refer to a healthcare professional for more personalized answers.

Regards,
AIDS Vancouver Helpline/Online, Carson
