Hi,

Today I woke up and I found out there is a tiny pinhole-like wound on my index finger without any blood. I found out because I feel a little pain on the pinhole-like wound. I cannot recall how I got this wound at all. Should I go for the HIV Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)?

Thanks,
Matt

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. From what we gather from the question, you were asking about taking Post-Exposure Prophylaxis for a wound on your finger.

From what you have described, this is not an emergency situation. CDC states that PEP should only be used in emergency situations (such as sharing needles and unprotected sex) and should be started within 72 hours of exposure.

Recommendation: Refer to a Physician for more personalised answers
