So I had a mutual oral sex with this guy, most of the time it was kissing but there were these times that I gave him oral for a short time. He did not ejaculate in my mouth, but i tasted precum or it might be urine. I actually have a tooth decay. Did I have the high probability of contracting HIV.

Hello there!

Thank you for using AIDS Vancouver Helpline as your source for HIV/AIDS related information.

Giving oral sex poses low risk for the transmission of HIV, which means there have been a few reports of infection, usually under certain identifiable conditions. This is because there is an exchange of body fluids during this activity. However, it should be noted that saliva contains an enzyme that inhibits the virus from growing, so the virus would most likely have been killed before it could have entered your bloodstream. For individuals with low risk or higher, we still do recommend receiving testing for HIV.

All HIV tests provided by healthcare specialists are accurate, reliable, safe, and are considered conclusive at 3 months or 84 days post exposure, provided there have been no subsequent exposures. We here at AIDS Vancouver encourage all sexually active individuals to practice safe sex (through condoms and water-based lubricants) and include HIV and STI testing into their routine health check, whether annually, bi-annually, or every few months depending on your schedule, as testing is the only way to know one's status. Here is a link for HIV testing sites in the Lower Mainland: [http://www.aidsvancouver.org/testing_map](http://www.aidsvancouver.org/testing_map).

I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to contact us again if you have further questions or concerns.
