Can you please help me. My friend had a potential exposure. She took a western blot test at 26 day mark and got negative. How accurate is the result and the probability of its conclusive?

I would appreciate any help here.

Hi there,

Thank you for choosing the AIDS Vancouver Helpline as your source of information.

The Western Blot test has a window period of approximately 8 weeks, for a positive result. The Western Blot is always a confirmatory test, when one the results of an HIV tests are positive (reactive). Thus, it is one the most accurate HIV tests available.

In health,

Moe, AIDS Vancouver Helpline Volunteer.
