Hello,

My roomate did a Hiv test yesterday for a second time which was negative again. He did unprotected sex before 5 months and 15 days. The first time he did the test was after 3 months from the day he did unprotected sex, and the second time was after 5 months and 14 days. The test method was CLIA and the results were 0,03 negative! How sure should he be ?

Hello and thanks for contacting AIDS Vancouver with your question.

All HIV tests are considered conclusive 3 months post exposure.

You say that your roommate was tested for a second time at 5 months and 15 days post exposure. The result was negative.

This test is considered conclusive.

Your roommate can trust his negative test result.

Thanks for contacting AIDS Vancouver.
