Hello,

I am from Romania, at 3 months (12 weeks) I've made a Hiv Test Elisa Ser 1+2 and come back negative (I don't know the test generation but on the note is Test Hiv Elisa Ser 1+2). It is conclusive because I'm very very stressed and anxious, I want to kill myself...please reply as soon as possible..... In my country they insist at 6 months....why?

Hello, and thank you for contacting the AIDS Vancouver Helpline. I will be more than glad to help.

Your test at 12 weeks is conclusive, and your HIV status is negative. There has never been any cases of anyone's status changing after 12 weeks. The only reason that some people have to wait 6 months is due to 4 specific medical conditions (if they are on treatment for cancer, treatment for Hepatitis C, HIV PEP treatment, if they have other immunodeficiency diseases since childhood). Unfortunately some places still ask everyone to wait 6 months even though this is not necessary.

Sincerely,

Ali
