If stress can cause a persons immune system to become messed up can that cause immunodeficiency and therefore make a test inaccurate at the 3 month mark since a persons body (immune system) may not be acting how it normally does? I hope you get what I'm trying to ask, thank you.

Hi there,

Thank you for choosing the AIDS Vancouver Helpline as your source of information.

Although stress does have an impact on your immune system, it would not be significant enough to affect your test results for HIV. Stress will not impact the production of HIV antibodies in your body, and that's what the tests rely on, in order to detect the presence of HIV in your present.

So the answer to your question is no; stress would not affect the accuracy of HIV test results at the 3 months mark.

In health,
