Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. From what we gather from the question, you are asking about the risk of HIV infection based on results from HIV tests administered to you during a full health check up.

As we do not know the exact nature of the tests you received, we cannot confirm a positive/negative result. However, to the best of our knowledge, the test was likely a P24 antigen test, a test commonly given to test for a human antibody presence for protein P24 on the HIV particle. It is a common diagnosis for HIV infection, detecting the presence of anti-HIV antibodies using an enzyme immunoassay method. According to publications specifications (1) (2) regarding this test, S/CO values
of >1.0 as you described are considered reactive, or positive; S/CO values <1.0 are considered non-reactive, or negative. ("S/CO" is the signal/cut-off value used by software to report reactivity.). Based on this information, your result of 0.25 S/CO indicates a non-reaction, or negative result.

Recommendation: Please refer to a healthcare professional to aid for further inquiry about your tests.

Regards,

AIDS Vancouver Helpline/Online, Nancy
