Hi there and thank you for using AIDS Vancouver as your source for HIV/AIDS related information.
The HIV test you received is also known as EIA (Enzyme Immunoassay) antibody 3rd Generation (or ELISA). This is a blood test that looks for HIV-specific antibodies in your body and has a window period of 4 weeks to 3 months, which is a period of time your body require to build up a detectable level of antibodies if there is an infection. Any ELISA test conducted after 3 months after possible exposure is conclusive and no re-test is required because it detect no HIV-specific antibodies. Therefore, your test result is conclusive.
I hope this helps with your question. Please feel free to contact us again if you have any concern.
