Hi, my question is simple yet i think it will be informative to others.
I received a blowjob from a stranger. i dont know anything about him especially his HIV status. I dont have any wounds around my penis. He sucked my dick and i cummed in his mouth but he spit it right away. What are the chances that I acquire HIV from him? What are other things i should be worried about; like other STDs?

Hi there! Thanks for contacting the AIDS Vancouver helpline with your HIV related questions/concerns. We are happy to help!

In terms of receiving oral sex, that is a Negligible Risk. What this means is that even though technically you could make a case for it, there hasn't been a single confirmed report of acquiring HIV in this manner in BC.

In terms of other STDs, while we are not trained on these topics, it is important to note that things such as oral herpes can be passed on through direct contact of oral sex. For more information on other STD's however, visit [Smartsexresource.com ](Smartsexresource.com ) or talk to your health care professional about prevention methods!

Finally, in regards to HIV, I'm attaching the transmission equation here, which helps to illustrate exactly what components are necessary for there to be a risk involved:

HIV TRANSMISSION EQUATION

BODY FLUID
+
ACTIVITY
+
DIRECT ACCESS TO BLOODSTREAM
---------- -------- ----------------------------
• blood (including menstrual) • unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse • vagina
• semen • sharing needles • anus
• pre-cum • mother to child (in specific cases) • urethra in the penis
• rectal secretions • open cuts and sores (in theory)
• vaginal fluids • other mucosal membranes
• breast milk • points of needle injection
Hopefully this helped!

Sincerely,
Christina
