hi. I am really worried about the event that happened to me yesterday. actually, while I was going to public toilet, two druggist people surrounded me. one of them was bleeding. now I am afraid that if their blood flew to my eye, mouth or face where I got an hour old cut then is there any risk for hiv. thanks for your help.

Hello and thanks for contacting the AIDS Vancouver Helpline. In the situation you described if a small amount of blood had landed on you, which you are not certain about, there was no risk of HIV transmission. Even a recent superficial cut is did not expose you to HIV risk. You do not require HIV testing.

I hope this answers your question. If you have HIV related concerns please contact the Helpline again.

Best wishes,

Marnelle
