Hi, I was in risk exposure of receiving oral sex 10 weeks ago. On my 78 days, I went for hiv test (Rapid test "point of care") with negative result. Shall I still wait for one more week to meet 84days? Or I could take this negative result as conclusive and definite? Thanks

Greetings,

Your 78 day results are conclusive. I would not worry about a few extra days, especially when your activity was a negligible risk. What this mean is that receiving oral sex, although there is body fluid present, has never been found to transmit HIV.

I would move on from this, and remember, that we recommend all sexually active people get tested regularly as it pertains to their lifestyle. This could be every 3 months, 6 months or yearly.

All the best,

Katie
