I am 24 YO Male and I have been monogamous for last 10 months and we always had unprotected vaginal sex. Today I had protected vaginal sex with an alcoholic who could have been with other men. We both gave mutual oral sex and she deep throated me too. Also before vaginal sex she rubbed my penis over her vagina for a short time. She claims she got tested 2 weeks ago and was STI/STD free. However I am panicking real bad. Please help. What's my risk for STI???

Hi and thanks for contacting the AIDS Vancouver Helpline. This is a website that answers questions on HIV. For information about other Sexually Transmitted Infections, I would like to suggest that you check out www.smartsexresource.com. I believe there is also a nurse telephone helpline that you could access with your questions about STIs.

If you are not sure about whether or not you were at risk for HIV transmission you can consider HIV testing. Receiving oral sex is considered to be negligible risk and giving oral sex is low risk. The testing window for HIV is 4-12 weeks, but for a conclusive result testing is recommended at 12 weeks after a possible exposure.

If you have any HIV related questions in the future, please contact the Helpline again.

Best wishes,

Marnelle
